April Kids Activities at Discovery Place Kids – Huntersville

Looking for indoor kids activities in Huntersville this month? Discovery Place Kids – Huntersville is the perfect place for families to explore, play and learn together. From science shows to story time, every visit is filled with hands-on fun for kids of all ages.

All museum events and activities are free with admission.

April Theme: The Great Counting Carnival: This month, we’re making math meaningful (and fun!) by exploring numbers through stories, art, and hands-on play. From counting and shapes to number hunts and creative expression, each week invites children to see math all around them in exciting and imaginative ways. Join us as we build early math skills through creativity, curiosity, and discovery!

Special Programs

April 1 – April 6

Math Dots: Let’s count to 10! Blend early math skills with creativity and storytelling in this playful, hands-on program. After reading 10 Black Dots by Donald Cruz, guests will explore how numbers can turn into pictures by transforming black dots into their own art pieces.

April 7 – April 13

Don’t Be a Square:Who says it’s not hip to be square? Join us for a reading of Perfect Square by Michael Hall. Using the story as our guide, we’ll explore all the things a perfectly imperfect square can become. Guests will transform their own squares into creative works of art.

April 14 – April 20

I Spy Numbers: “I spy with my little eye” …. numbers everywhere!  This week we hunt for numbers and other objects in the book I Spy Numbers by Jean Marzollo. Guests will play their own game of I Spy as they sort through sensory bins to find crazy objects and numbers.

April 21 – April 30

Hidden in Plain Sight:  Math, art, literature, and science all come to life this week as we explore number art. We’ll read Numblers by Suse MacDonald and Bill Oakes, searching for hidden numbers within the illustrations. No art expertise needed. Just have fun discovering numbers and creating your own number-inspired artwork!
