January Kids Activities at Discovery Place Kids – Huntersville

Looking for indoor kids activities in Huntersville this winter? Discovery Place Kids – Huntersville is the perfect place for families to explore, play, and learn together. From science shows to story time, every visit is filled with hands-on fun for kids of all ages.

All museum events and activities are free with admission.

January Theme: Outer Space: We’re reaching for the stars at Discovery Place Kids Huntersville! Join us as we explore the wonders of space. Kids will engineer rocket ships, explore different careers, learn about the solar system, and develop a story for an alien friend.

Special Programs

January 4 | 2:00 p.m. – 4:30 p.m.
Join us during our Sensory friendly hours 

January 10 | Messy Member Morning – Kinetic Kiddie Pools | Member Hour: 8:30 a.m. – 9:30 a.m.
Start your day with some sensory fun at our Messy Member Morning! Kids can dig in and get creative with our kinetic kiddy pool, where tubs of squishy, moldable kinetic sand invite little hands to squish, sculpt, and explore. 

January 12 – 13 | DPKH is closed!
Discovery Place Kids is closed for a winter refresh! We will be back with exciting, out-of-this-world programs for the rest of January!  

January 19 | Martin Luther King Jr. Day
Join us at the Town Hall Main Stage at 11:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. for a special story time to celebrate the life of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. 

January 7, 14, 21, 28 | BellaBallerina Dance Party! | 10:30 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.
BellaBallerina is a literacy-based dance studio that caters to ages 18 months to 10 years old. They use story integration and imagination to teach most of our dance classes so students can get used to creating imaginative worlds, learn dance in a nurturing environment, and have fun! 

January 9, 16, 23, 30 | BellaBallerina Dance Party! | 12:00 p.m. – 12:30 p.m.

Daily Programs  

Puppet Show | 9:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.
Circus of the Stars: When everyone gets sick, Bambo the Clown must overcome his stage fright to be the Ringleader of the Circus!    

Science Show | 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.
Join us at the Town Hall all month for an adventure in science. Predict, observe, and experiment with different topics.  From color-mixing to chemical reactions, our Science Show is sure to instill curiosity in our little scientist.  

Big Fun | 15 minutes before closing
Big Fun is the time of the day when children and adults move and groove to three of our favorite songs. Put your dancing shoes on and join us for this daily dance party!  

I CAN Create | All day
Join us in I CAN Create this month as we see how talented we can be. Little artists can stop by anytime to paint, color, build or draw a masterpiece.
