Welcome Program

Discovery Place launched its Welcome Program in 2014 to help ensure access to museum learning and experiences across its 501(c)(3) nonprofit family of museums. Since that time, Discovery Place has welcomed well over half a million visitors through the program.

In 2022, Discovery Place expanded the program with the addition of a Welcome Membership.

Welcome Admission

Discovery Place offers our Welcome Program Admission* to EBT or WIC card holders residing in North and South Carolina to broaden access to our educational offerings.

For $3 per person, we invite you and up to 5 additional guests to experience our museums. Tickets are available for pre-purchase online or can be purchased when you arrive.

Your Welcome tickets are processed just like other admission tickets and your experience visiting the museum will be the same as other visitors.

Welcome participants may also purchase discounted parking for $8 per vehicle.

*Welcome tickets are available to individuals with current and active WIC or EBT benefits from North Carolina or South Carolina. To enter using Welcome tickets, you must show a valid ID with corresponding proof of current WIC or EBT benefits.

Welcome Membership

Discovery Place is proud to offer our Welcome Program Membership, a special opportunity for North and South Carolina families who receive WIC or EBT benefits. This program makes our educational experiences more accessible to our community.

Family membership cost: $75 (discount automatically applies at checkout) Discounted parking is also available for $8 per vehicle.

To use your Welcome Program benefits, simply present a valid ID and proof of current WIC or EBT benefits from either North or South Carolina.

To Purchase: Add a regular family membership to your cart then click “Proceed to Checkout.” Your Welcome Program discount will automatically apply.

How It Works

Visitors who currently receive EBT or WIC benefits and who live in NC or SC are eligible for $3 per person admission or $75 annual membership to Discovery Place Museums for up to six people.

  • Welcome admission tickets and membership can be conveniently purchased online or in person.
  • Upon entering the museum, visitors show their digital tickets and their EBT/WIC identification. Discounted parking and IMAX documentary tickets are also available.
  • The experience in the museum is the same for Welcome and General Admission visitors.

Parking is free a both Discovery Place Kids locations. At Discovery Place Science, parking is discounted to $8 daily through the Welcome Program. Please bring your parking deck ticket to the Admissions desk inside the museum so that we can apply the discount.

Yes, you must bring a North or South Carolina state-issued photo ID with you when you visit the museum. Only residents of these states are eligible, and we cannot make exceptions. Proof of current and active EBT or WIC benefits is required.
