Theme: Under the Sea

Get ready to dive deep into discovery with an Under the Sea month, a journey through the seas and the fascinating life within. Each week we will explore a different aspect of the sea, from the creatures that crawl along the ocean floor to the mysteries of the deep sea. Through movement, engineering challenges and sensory exploration, children will engage with themes of marine biology, physical activity, ocean science and imaginative play!

July 1 – 7: Crustacean Station: Join us this week to get moving like your favorite ocean crustaceans. In this movement challenge, children will be imitating the movements of crabs, lobsters, shrimp and hermit crabs. This activity encourages physical activity and imagination to learn about these ocean animals.
Story time (11:00 a.m. & 3:00 p.m.)Clumsy Crab by Ruth Galloway

July 8 – 14: Jawsome Sharks: Shark week! Join us for a jawsome engineering challenge where children will design and build their own boats, then test to see if their boats can float to escape the jaws of the hungry sharks.
Story time (11:00 a.m. & 3:00 p.m.): Clark the Shark by Bruce Hale

July 15 – 21: Deep Sea Divers: Explore the mysterious ocean depths by discovering different ocean layers with a density experiment. Children can then make their own sensory bottles to recreate the different colors, textures and animals that live in each ocean layer.
Story time (11:00 a.m. & 3:00 p.m.): Way Down Deep in the Deep Blue Sea by Jan Peck

July 22 – 31: Kinetic Sandcastles: We are bringing the beach indoors this week! Join us as we make sandcastles inside and make seashell impressions to learn about different seashells and the animals that may have lived in them.
