We’re getting ready for a new school year at Discovery Place Kids!

This month, we’re learning about different topics to celebrate the last weeks of summer and prepare for a new school year. Join us daily for fun themed activities throughout the week.

Stop by the Town Hall Main Stage at 11:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. to enjoy the fun!

August 6-11: Catch the Letter: Can you find all the letters? After the story, head to the I CAN Create to practice letter recognition, an essential foundation of literacy skills. Have fun swatting the letters you identify using a fly swatter.

August 13-18: Dress for Success: Routines benefit children’s emotional and behavioral health. After listening to the story, talk about how we prepare for school in the morning. Try your hand at a relay to practice getting ready for school.

August 20-25: Shaving Cream Names: Do you know your first and last name? Learning our first and last names is essential knowledge for young children. Listen to the story, then work with your family to write your first and last name. After you write your name, trace the letters in shaving cream.

August 27- September 1: Shape BINGO: Triangle. Square. Circle. Can you identify all the shapes? After guessing the animal during the story, find 2D shapes as you play Shape BINGO. Try to be the first to call out BINGO and win the game.

Puppet Show (Daily at 9:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.)
The Shell Game: Dive down deep and learn about some ocean friends. Meet a sea anemone, hermit crab, sea turtle and many other creatures in this fun and educational show.
