Looking for indoor kids activities in Huntersville this month? Discovery Place Kids – Huntersville is the perfect place for families to explore, play and learn together. From science shows to story time, every visit is filled with hands-on fun for kids of all ages.

All museum events and activities are free with admission.

May Theme: Healthy Heroes: What is your superpower? Uncover your superpower this month at Discovery Place Kids. From superheroes to supervillains, we are exploring all aspects of health to level up both mentally and physically. Throughout the month, your superhero (or villain) will have the chance to train like a superhero, strengthen their minds, explore their super senses and expose the secrets of real life “villains” aka germs. Suit up and get ready to assemble your best self!

Special Programs

May 3 | 2:00 p.m. – 4:30 p.m. | Sensory friendly hours
Join us for low-sensory hours designed for children with sensory sensitivities and special needs to enjoy the Museum’s hands-on exhibit spaces and explore in a calmer, quieter environment. 

May 9 | Messy Member Morning- Tie-Dye Pillowcases | Member Hour: 8:30 a.m. – 9:30 a.m.
Get ready to mix, twist, and swirl! This Messy Member Morning is all about color and creativity as we design our very own tie-dye pillowcases. Members are invited to roll up their sleeves, get a little messy, and make a one-of-a-kind creation to take home. 

May 10 | Mother’s Day 
Join us to celebrate Mother’s Day with a special Storytime book and create art that only a mother could love! 

May 25 | DPKH is Open! 
School’s out for the day, come out and play at DPKH! 

Daily Programs  

Puppet Show | 9:00 a.m. & 1:00 p.m.
Tortoise & The Hare: Does slow and steady always win the race? Join us for this exciting puppet show to find out who wins the race and see some familiar fairytale characters. 

Science Show | 10:00 a.m. & 2:00 p.m.
Join us at the Town Hall all month for an adventure in science. Predict, observe, and experiment with different topics.  From color-mixing to chemical reactions, our Science Show is sure to instill curiosity in our little scientist.  

Big Fun | 15 minutes before closing
Big Fun is the time of the day when children and adults move and groove to three of our favorite songs. Put your dancing shoes on and join us for this daily dance party!  

I CAN Create | All day
Join us in I CAN Create this month as we see how talented we can be. Little artists can stop by anytime to paint, color, build or draw a masterpiece.
