Summer Camps for 5 & 6 Year Olds in Huntersville
Five and six are magic ages. Children are moving from “parallel play” to true collaboration. They are ready to ask “Why?” and actually hunt for the answer. At Discovery Place Kids-Huntersville, our summer camps for ages 5-6 are designed to capture this explosion of curiosity.
Whether your child is a rising Kindergartener or getting ready for 1st grade, our programs offer the perfect mix of guided instruction and imaginative play. We help them practice the skills they need for school—like following multi-step directions and working in teams—while having the summer of their lives.

Is My 5 or 6-Year-Old Ready?
The “Big Kid” Schedule
Our camps run 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM. This full-day schedule is excellent preparation for the rhythm of a Kindergarten or 1st-grade school day, helping build the stamina they will need in the fall.
Socialization
At ages 5 and 6, making friends is a skill. Our counselors facilitate group activities that teach sharing, negotiation (“You use the red brick, I’ll use the blue”), and kindness.
Independence
We encourage campers to manage their own belongings (backpacks, lunchboxes) and clean up their stations, fostering a sense of responsibility and independence.
