Join us daily for fun themed activities throughout the week. \nStop by the Town Hall Main Stage at 11:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. to enjoy the fun! \nAugust 6-11: Catch the Letter: Can you find all the letters? After the story\, head to the I CAN Create to practice letter recognition\, an essential foundation of literacy skills. Have fun swatting the letters you identify using a fly swatter. \nAugust 13-18: Dress for Success: Routines benefit children’s emotional and behavioral health. After listening to the story\, talk about how we prepare for school in the morning. Try your hand at a relay to practice getting ready for school. \nAugust 20-25: Shaving Cream Names: Do you know your first and last name? Learning our first and last names is essential knowledge for young children. Listen to the story\, then work with your family to write your first and last name. After you write your name\, trace the letters in shaving cream. \nAugust 27- September 1: Shape BINGO: Triangle. Square. Circle. Can you identify all the shapes? After guessing the animal during the story\, find 2D shapes as you play Shape BINGO. Try to be the first to call out BINGO and win the game. \nPuppet Show (Daily at 9:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.)\nThe Shell Game: Dive down deep and learn about some ocean friends. DESCRIPTION:Get ready to make a splash at Discovery Place Kids!\nThis month\, we are learning all about the ocean. We will explore the ocean and learn about life under the Sea through activities. Join us for our favorite ocean-related stories\, songs\, art and activities. \nJoin us daily for fun-themed activities throughout the week and all month long. Stop by the Town Hall Main Stage at 11:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. to enjoy the fun! \nJuly 2–7 – Sea Animals: Dive underwater to learn about sea life. Join us at the Town Hall Main Stage to hear “In the Sea” by David Elliot. We’ll then head to I CAN Create to participate in activities to learn about where sea animals live and practice our gross motor skills with shark toss. \nJuly 9–14 – Sea Turtles: Join us at the Town Hall Main Stage to hear “Tammy Turtle\, A Tale of Saving Sea Turtle” by Suzanne Tate. We’ll then head to I CAN Create to participate in activities that will help us learn about these unique creatures and the turtle life cycle and help them get to the ocean after hatching. \nJuly 16–21 – Coral: Did you know corals are not plants but animals? They attach themselves to rocks and attract many animals and tropical fish. Join us at the Town Hall main Stage to hear the story “Explore My World: Coral Reefs” by Jill Esbaum. After the story\, you will learn about different types of coral and build your model of a coral reef. \nJuly 23–28- Oceanographer: What is it like to be an oceanographer? For an oceanographer\, see what it looks like under the Sea. Join us at the Town Hall main stage to hear “Baby Oceanographer” by Dr. Laura Gehl. Then we’ll head to I CAN Create to see if you have what it takes to be an oceanographer. \nSpecial Programs\nEarn character coins that you can donate to a local charity! \nPuppet Show (9:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. daily)\nThe Shell Game: Dive down deep and learn about some ocean friends. Join Meranda the Mermaid on an adventure under the Sea. Listen to the story Love Makes a Family by Sophie Beer and interact with our community art project for the week by sharing how your family shows love. Love is a family day at Discovery Place. Love is sharing ice cream on a hot day. However your family shows love\, we want to know!   \nJune 18-24: You are invited to the Town Hall Main Stage to read the story A Family is a Family is a Family by Sara Oleary and Qin Leng. Learn how all families look different and find out what a foster family is. Explore in the I Can Create area while completing a scavenger hunt of family portraits. Learn about art\, culture\, and what families have done together for centuries.   \nJune 25-30: Enjoy One Family by George Shannon and investigating how all families are different. DESCRIPTION:Get ready for an exciting sensory adventure the whole family can enjoy! Through hands-on activities\, discover the five senses of sight\, sound\, smell\, taste and touch. Feel different textures\, taste flavors with your tongue\, sniff out mystery scents\, make noise with homemade instruments and navigate a fun obstacle course. \nWe’ll also explore tools like braille\, glasses\, headphones\, and weighted vests that help kids with different abilities experience the five senses. It’s a captivating journey for little ones to learn about their incredible senses! \nJoin us daily for fun-themed activities throughout the week and all month. Stop by the Town Hall Main Stage at 11:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. to enjoy the fun!   \nApril 30 – May 5 Touch: Have you ever felt overwhelmed? We will explore this emotion while reading Too Much! “An Overwhelming Day” by Jolene Gutierrez. Join us for an activity about touch in our Create area. Bunnies are soft. Sand is rough. Cotton is soft. Our skin can feel different textures. Have you ever had an itchy shirt? Your skin can feel that. Use your hands to explore different textures in sensory bins.   \nMay 7-12 Taste: What foods are yummy to your tummy? “Yum!: A Book about Taste” by Dana Meachen Rau discusses everything delicious. Do you like to eat sour candy? What about spicy chips? Our tongue has different parts that work together to taste our food. Stop by I Can Create to taste test sweet\, sour\, salty\, bitter\, and savory flavors and see where you can taste them on your tongue.    \nMay 14-19 Smell: What’s that Smell? “Thank You\, Omu!” by Oge Mora gives insight into our sense of smell. Take a sniff. What do you smell? Our noses and brains work together to smell the different chemicals in the air. Using only your nose\, match each cup to its scent. See if your nose knows!    \nMay 21-26 Hear: “Listen” by Gabi Snyder explores your hearing. Your ears can hear all different kinds of noises. Some noises are loud\, and some noises are soft. Guests will sort pictures into loud or soft categories and create their musical instruments to make their noises!   \nMay 28-31 See: After listening to “Rosies Glasses” by Dave Whamond\, join us for an activity about sight in our Create area. Different people can see in various ways. Some can see without help\, while others may use glasses or contacts. Work with your grown-up to complete an obstacle course using vision-blocking goggles.
